World champion Carlson alleges: Grandmaster Niemann cheated in a chess match

New Delhi , dated 27

World chess champion Magnus Carlsen has made a shocking allegation that American Grandmaster Hans Niemann has recently started cheating more and more during chess matches , after which he also made a public confession. Niemann, however, denied Carlson's allegation. Significantly, Carlson was defeated by Niemann in the Sinquefield Cup played at St. Louis this month. After which he left the tournament. The discussion about Niemann winning by cheating in this match was going on in the chess world for some time now.

Carlson then competed in the Julius Baer Generation Cup. His match was against 19-year-old Nieman. In the online tournament, Carlson abandoned the match against Niemann after just one move and then accused Niemann of cheating. Elaborating on his allegation, Carlson said , " Our (chess) board process was found to be exceptional. Earlier during our match in the Sinquefield Cup, I noticed that Nieman was not stressed at all. His concentration was not even in the match at the most crucial moments of the match. However, I did not like the way he played with black mahora and easily defeated me in a one-sided encounter. Very few people can defeat me like this. The Julius Baer Generation Cup match changed my perspective. Niemann denied the allegation and said, " If Karlsson wants, I am ready to play against him without wearing any clothes." So that he does not suspect that I am cheating with him in some way.

The 31-year-old Carlson said, " I believe that cheating in chess is a very serious crime and it calls into question the credibility of chess." There is a need to increase security in online tournaments. I am not willing to play against any cheating player including Niemann. Of course, Carlson did not provide any evidence to support his claim.
