Exempted from net practice ahead of crucial clash against Pakistan, Gavaskar lashed out at Team India

New Delhi, 22 October 2022, Saturday
The whole country is waiting for the important match of the Indian team against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup on Sunday. Indian cricket fans want the Indian team to give the country a Diwali gift by winning against the arch enemy.
But the attitude of the team management before this match is surprising. Net practice was not made mandatory for the players on Friday. Players were also exempted from net practice. As a result, more than half of the players did not take part in net practice.
India's legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar is also expressing his dismay. He says that the players should not be exempted from practice before such an important match.
In a conversation with a news channel, Sunil Gavaskar said, "I do not agree with this kind of policy. The reason for this is that one of the warm-up matches of Team India was washed away in the rain." Net practice on the second day after arriving in Melbourne is preferred when one day is for rest and this is not appropriate.
He further said that it is possible that the players who did not participate in the study will become match winners but I believe that as a team all the players should be in rhythm. The team should have a sense of purpose. It is fine for one or two players to be excused from attending practice, but making net practice optional for the entire team is unconscionable.
Several players including Kohli, Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Rushabh Pant, Chahal, KL Rahul did not practice net after the option given by the team management. While captain Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik, Arshdeep Singh, Shami, Akshar Patel and Deepak Hooda were seen practicing net.
