India faced Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh and Australia in this World Cup. Sri Lanka defeated India in the final to win the trophy.

India faced New Zealand, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Australia. However, in the semi-finals, India lost against the West Indies. West Indies then won their second T20 World Cup trophy by defeating England in a thrilling match in Calcutta.

2021

India faced Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia. India failed to reach the semi-finals due to losses to Pakistan and New Zealand. However, the New Zealand team that made it to the finals from this group could not win the title either.
