Argentina's football legend Maradona scored the controversial ' Hand of God ' goal against England in the quarter finals of the 1986 World Cup . Finally, Argentina won that match . The ball with which Maradona scored the Hand of God goal fetched around 200 million rupees ( 20 million pounds ) at auction .

Maradona controversially sent the ball into England's goal with his hand while appearing to score a header . The referee didn't even notice it and the goal was allowed . After this he scored another goal giving a classic performance and eventually Argentina won the match . After that, he also became the world champion .

The ball of the most controversial match in the history of the Football World Cup was held by Ali Bin Nasser, the Tunisian referee of that match . He put it in the auction . The auction of this ball was expected to yield 25 lakh pounds or 30 lakh pounds .

Significantly , Maradona's jersey worn in that match fetched around 71 lakh pounds ( roughly Rs. 69 crore ) in the auction . Maradona's jersey was owned by England's Steve Hodge who played in that match .
