The race for the new chief selector of the Indian team gets interesting, with 3 more stalwarts joining after Agarkar

After the crushing defeat in the T20 World Cup, the BCCI removed the selection committee headed by Chetan Sharma. With the search for a new selection committee for the Indian team underway, many names are coming up to be the next selectors of Team India. Recently, former cricketer Ajit Agarkar's name came to the fore and now some new names have also joined the list.
These 3 former cricketers in the race for chief selector
Former cricketer Nayan Mongia also said that he is preparing to apply for the post of national selector. Also former cricketers Laxman Sivaramakrishnan and Salil Ankola are also likely to join the race.

- Ajit Agarkar (26 Tests, 191 ODIs)
- Nayan Mongia (44 Tests, 140 ODIs)
- Laxman Sivaramakrishnan (09 Tests, 16 ODIs)
- Salil Ankola (01 Test, 20 ODIs)
What is required to become a Chief Selector?
- Any player who has played 7 or more Test matches
- It is also necessary to have played 30 first class matches
- Should have played 10 ODIs or 20 List-A matches
- He retired from cricket 5 years ago
- Should not be a member of any committee of BCCI
- Must be willing to serve for next 5 years
The new committee will be selected for 5 years
It is mentioned that this committee will be selected by BCCI for five years. Out of the five members who will be selected, whoever is the senior player in terms of experience will automatically become the Chief Selector.
