BCCI may decide on the future of Indian team captain Rohit Sharma today. An important meeting of BCCI's Apex Council is going to be held today. Many issues regarding the Indian team are to be discussed in this meeting but the biggest decision may be about the captain. The Indian team did not perform well in the T20 World Cup and were eliminated from the tournament after losing in the semi-finals. The Indian team has not won the T20 World Cup title since 2007. Apart from the new captain of the T20 team, a decision can also be taken on the appointment of a new coach in the meeting. Hardik Pandya may be made the new captain. He was also given the command of the team during the rest of the senior players. Many legends have already talked about making Pandya the captain for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup.
The coach can also change along with the captain
Apart from the captain, the T20 team may also get a new coach. A BCCI official said that today's meeting has many agendas. However, the T20 World Cup review is not included. But it can be debated if the speaker wants. The T20 World Cup is still 2 years away and the ODI World Cup is next year as well. In such a situation, other captains can be ready along with Rohit. Along with the new captain, the new coach can also be selected in this meeting. Coach Rahul Dravid may also have less workload given the constant competition from Team India and someone else may be given the responsibility as the coach in the T20 team. VVS Laxman of the upcoming T20 series may get this responsibility. A full-time coach may be announced later.
Rohit Sharma will turn 36 next year
Team India is currently playing a 2-match Test series against Bangladesh. Rohit Sharma could not play in this series due to injury. He will now turn 36 in April next year. The ODI World Cup is scheduled to be held in India in October-November 2023. In such a situation, his entire focus will be on this World Cup. Rohit Sharma's injury has also become a headache for the Indian team management. By the next ODI World Cup, he will have to pay more attention to fitness.
