5 teams of Womens IPL Rs. 4670 crore auction, Ahmedabadites happy

BCCI has announced the results of the women's IPL team auction.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has finally announced the Women's Indian Premier League after a long wait. The board announced the league's new 5 franchises on Wednesday, January 25. Out of the 7 franchises in Men's IPL, only the owners of Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals have got a franchise in it. According to the announcement, BCCI has earned Rs 4669.99 crore from this auction. Apart from this the board has also named the league - Women's Premier League (WPL).

The BCCI had received bids from several companies for the new tournament, which will begin in March this year for the first time, after which the BCCI on Wednesday announced the names of the 5 highest bidding franchises. The cities of Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Lucknow have got franchises in this auction. IPL franchises are already present in all these five cities.

Good news for Ahmedabad-Adani:

Interestingly, a team has also come from Ahmedabad in this auction. Adani, who stayed behind to buy the Gujarat franchise Gujarat Titans in the men's IPL, has created a stir this time.

The highest bid has been placed for buying the Ahmedabad franchise. Ahmedabad franchise to Adani Sportsline Rs. 1289 crore, BCCI said in a statement.

Ahead of the Women's Premier League teams auction, Viacom18 beat Disney Star and Sony to buy the upcoming media rights for Rs 951 crore for five years.

3. Royal Challengers Sports, Bengaluru, 901 crores

5. Capri Global Holdings, Lucknow, 757 crores
