India's top tennis star Sania Mirza and doubles specialist Rohan Bopanna qualified for the Australian Open mixed doubles final. They will now face Brazil's Lucia Stefani and Rafael Matos in the final. Significantly, this is the last Grand Slam tournament of Sania Mirza's career.
Sania-Bopanna advanced to the semi-finals by defeating the third-seeded pair of Britain's Neil Skupski and American Dasira Krawczyk 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (5-7), 6-10. This highly tense encounter lasted for one hour and 52 minutes.
The pair of Stefani and Matos of Brazil defeated Jedski-Pollmans of Australia 4-6, 6-4, 11-9 in an hour and a half encounter.
