Hockey World Cup: India beat South Africa 5-2 to finish joint 9th

The Indian men's hockey team finished joint 9th after defeating South Africa 5-2 in the classification match. India finished ninth along with Argentina in the 16-team Hockey World Cup held at home. In another match, Argentina beat Wales 6-0 to secure 9th place.

Defending champions Belgium will face Germany in the final on Sunday, January 29. This match will start from 7.00 pm. It will be followed by a bronze medal match between Australia and Netherlands from 4.30 pm.

In the match against South Africa, all the five goals from India were scored by different players. Abhishek, Harmanpreet Singh, Shamsher Singh, Akashdeep Singh and Sukhjit Singh scored the goals. India took a 4-0 lead in the match. After which Wimbley and Kasim scored goals from South Africa.
