After an impressive 3-0 win in the ODI series, Team India will face New Zealand in the first T20I of the series today. The Indian team led by Hardik Pandya will come with the intention of continuing the victory march. India have not lost a single T20 International match against New Zealand in the last three years and now Team India is determined to push this record forward. While the New Zealand team will come down with the intention of getting a fresh start in the T20 by removing the frustration of the ODI defeat. The match will start from 7.30 pm in Ranchi, the hometown of former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
India's consecutive series win
India lost the last series against New Zealand by 1-2 in February 2019. However, India then won the five T20 series 3–0 in 2020, the three T20 series in 2021 by 3–0 and the three T20 series played in 2022 by 1–0.
Will Shaw get a chance after the great domestic form?
Prithvi Shaw, who performed brilliantly in domestic cricket, finally got a place in the T20 team. However, there is a question whether the Indian team management will give Shaw a chance in the presence of the pair of Kishan and Gill. India won the T20I series against Sri Lanka 3-0, with Kishan-Gill as the opening duo. However, they were not successful. In such a situation, India can drop Kishan in the middle order and give Shaw a chance.
Chahal-Kuldeep can be seen with the spin pair
India's fast bowling in T20 will be on Arshdeep, Umran Malik and Shivam Mavi along with captain Hardik. While in the absence of Akshar Patel, the spin bowling duo of Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav may get a chance together again. Washington Sundar is considered a contender for a place in the team as a spin bowling all-rounder.
Reliance on young players led by Santner
Under Santner's captaincy, New Zealand's young team will face India. Along with the captain, Ferguson-Mitchell and experienced players like Sodhi and Conway, along with players like Glenn Phillips, Rippon, Shipley, Duffy Clever and Chapman will be looking to make an impact on this tour. After the failure of ODI, New Zealand players are hoping for success in T20.
Tripathi's position in jeopardy with Hoonda the favorite to get more chances
India gave chance to Rahul Tripathi in the second T20 of the series against Sri Lanka. With this, Tripathi's T20 international career began. However, he did not get off to an impressive start and scored five runs in the first match and 35 in the second. In such a situation, Tripathi's position is considered to be in danger. Hooda has already shown flashes of his talent. After an innings of 41* runs in the first match against Sri Lanka, he was able to score 9 and 4 runs in the two matches respectively.
