Sabalenka wins Australian Open, loses to Rybacka in final

Fifth seed Sabalenka of Belarus won the Australian Open women's singles title. She won her first career Grand Slam championship with a 4–6, 6–3, 6–4 victory over Rybaki of Kazakhstan in the final. Coincidentally, he won the title in the first Grand Slam Championship final of his career.

Ribakina was already a Wimbledon winner, but could not maintain her dominance despite winning the first set at Melbourne Park. Ribaki's second career Grand Slam championship final was her first loss.
