New delhi date. 25 January 2023, Wednesday

By sweeping New Zealand brilliantly on Indian soil, India has achieved the number-1 position in the ICC ODI Ranking, but at the same time, the Indian bowler has occupied the top spot in the ICC bowler ranking. Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has overtaken New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult as the No.1 position in the MRF Tires ICC Men's ODI Player Rankings for bowlers.

Since his return to the ODI camp, Siraj has been one of the best among Indian fast bowlers with 37 wickets in 20 matches. The underrated 28-year-old's performance in Bumrah's absence deserves praise.

The captain patted his back

Indian captain Rohit Sharma praised Siraj when asked about the emerging fast bowler after the series whitewash against New Zealand. "He has done really well. Siraz understands what the team expects from him. Getting early wickets by swinging the ball early with the new ball and now having great skills in the middle overs also gives him an edge. The more Siraz plays, the more he plays. Is performing well."
