The second phase of IPL 2023 has started and the competition is on between the teams to move up in the points table. Except for Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals, all the teams have played 8 matches each. Currently on the points table four teams have 10 points each, while two teams are on 8-8, two teams are on 6 and another two teams are on 4-4 points. It is difficult to decide which 4 teams will qualify for the playoffs in such a situation. But former Indian spinner Anil Kumble has made a big prediction on this question. Kumble has revealed the four teams that could qualify for the IPL 2023 playoffs. Former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble says that only the current top-4 teams in the points table will be seen playing against each other in the playoffs.
Net run rate very important to qualify
Anil Kumble answered a question asked in a conversation with the media and said, 'At least 16 points will be required to reach the playoffs. If 16 points are not available then qualifying with 14 points will be very difficult. Net run rate is very important if any team wants to qualify within 14 points. This time even in 16 points the matter can be stopped at the net run rate. This time it doesn't look like even with 16 points the teams will be able to ensure that they can qualify or not.
Top 4 teams in points table in form
Kumble further said, 'According to me, the team which will be in the top-4 will qualify for the playoffs. It will be a bit difficult for the rest of the teams to get there. All four of these teams are in form right now and have potential. They win both home ground as well as away matches. It's not like he got here just by winning domestic matches. So I think the teams who are currently in the top 4 will qualify.
After the 38th match of IPL 2023, Rajasthan Royals are on the first position in the points table, while other teams like Lucknow Super Giants, Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings are in the top-4.
