The decision to host Asia Cup 2023 may be taken by the end of this week. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said that during the finals of IPL 2023, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh Cricket Board presidents will gather at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to watch the finals of IPL Season-16. Meanwhile, Asia Cup 2023 will also be discussed. Pakistan will not be part of this meeting. This year Asia Cup has been organized by Pakistan and India has refused to go to Pakistan for this tournament.

Jai Shah said that so far no decision has been taken regarding the hosting of the Asia Cup. We are busy with IPL but the top officials of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan Cricket Board are coming to watch the final match of IPL. In the meantime we will discuss and take the final decision at the right time. Last year, during the T20 World Cup 2022, Jay Shah announced that the Indian cricket team will not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. After that, Pakistan threatened not to participate in the World Cup 2023 to be held in India in October-November this year.

Pakistan has demanded a hybrid model
After the threat by Pakistan, the ACC meeting took place in which Pakistan softened a bit and demanded a hybrid model. There were two options in this model, the first was to host India's second match at a neutral venue and the remaining matches in Pakistan. In the second option, the first four matches of the league stage were to be played in Pakistan and all the remaining matches were to be played at neutral venues. Pakistan has received support from four countries for this hybrid model. But it is not clear which option is chosen in this hybrid model.
