BCCI had initially selected Gaekwad as a stand-by opener for the WTC final. According to sources, Jaiswal will join the Indian team as Gaekwad has informed the BCCI that he will not be able to travel to England due to his marriage. He will be able to join the team after June 5. Coach Rahul Dravid asked the selectors to choose an option. So Jaiswal has been selected as a stand by player.
