The last league match between India and Kuwait at the South Asian Football Federation Championship resulted in a 1-1 draw. With this, both teams entered the semi-finals. Now India can face Lebanon in the semi-final to be played on 1st July. While Kuwait may have to play against Bangladesh or Maldives.
From India, captain Sunil Chhetri scored the 92nd goal of his career and gave the team the lead before the first half. Despite a fighting display from the Kuwaiti team, India dominated it. Indian goalkeeper Amarinder Singh impressed Kuwait with an effective performance. However, with minutes remaining in the match, Anwar Ali's own goal earned Kuwait an equaliser. The match between India and Kuwait was tense and there was a clash between the players of both the teams on the field.
Nepal defeated Pakistan 1-0. However, they were knocked out of the race for the final four. Pakistan lost all three of their matches. Now, depending on the result of the match between Lebanon and Maldives and Bangladesh and Bhutan, the second team to enter the semi-final with Lebanon will be decided.
