A big news is coming out regarding the IPL 2024 season. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is making preparations to hold the next i.e. 2024 season of IPL early. Apart from this, the next IPL is also likely to be held abroad. The main reason for this is the Lok Sabha elections to be held next year.

IPL may start early

A BCCI source said that the tournament could start earlier for IPL 2024 due to Lok Sabha elections next year. We know that elections are going to happen and all these things are included in our plan. Sources further said that the IPL could be held as early as March next year if required. Also, it may end in mid-May. However, right now our full focus is on the ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India this year. IPL still has a long way to go. Let's see how things progress.

IPL can be held abroad

Regarding holding the IPL abroad, a BCCI source said, "We have managed both the elections and the tournament very well before." IPL 2024 can also be held abroad if required. However, our first priority will be to hold the tournament only in India. Decision will be taken according to the current situation. However, there is still a lot of time, so we should not talk about it now.

This has happened before

IPL has been held outside India twice so far due to Lok Sabha elections. The IPL was organized in South Africa due to the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. After this, the IPL was organized in two parts due to the Lok Sabha elections in the year 2014. Then half of the tournament was held in India while the remaining matches were held in the UAE.
