The Indian women's hockey team made a brilliant comeback to win the three-nation invitational hockey tournament held in Spain. India won the final and deciding league match against Spain 3-0 and won the title. India also won 3-0 against England earlier. Notably, the Indian women's team got off to a slow start with both the opening matches being draws.
In the invitational hockey tournament held to mark the completion of 100 years of the Spanish Hockey Federation, India made an aggressive display to win. Vandana Kataria, Udita and Monica scored goals for India in the match against Spain. The Spanish team could not score a single goal. In the previous match, India and Spain were tied 2-2.
The Indian women's hockey team also won 3-0 in the previous match against England. Lalremsimi scored all three goals for India. Earlier the match between India and England was drawn 1-1. When Spain won 2-0 against England. When England won 1-0 in the first match.
Indian men's team finished third
The Indian men's hockey team finished third in the four-nation invitational hockey tournament. India beat Netherlands 2-1 in the final league match and secured the third position. Harmanpreet Singh and Dilpreet Singh scored goals for India. Thierry Brinkmann scored the only goal. While the Spanish team became the champion by defeating England 3-2 in the penalty shootout. Both the teams were tied at 1-1 after the scheduled time. India had earlier drawn the match against England and Netherlands 1-1. However, the team led by Harmanpreet lost 1-2 against Spain in the first match.
