The first match of the three-match ODI series against West Indies will be played in Barbados today. But before this match news is coming that Indian team fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has been rested for this series and he has returned to India. Siraj has been spearheading the fast bowling in the tour in the absence of Mohammed Shami, but the decision has been taken keeping in mind his workload with big tournaments like the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup 2023. Siraj took the second 5 wickets of his career in the Test series against West Indies. India won the series 1-0.
Mohammad Siraj will not be a part of the T20 series either
According to reports, Mohammad Siraj has returned home along with R Ashwin, KS Bharath, Ajinkya Rahane and Navdeep Saini who are part of the Test team. This decision has been taken due to its workload management. India is also scheduled to play a 5-match T20 series on the tour of West Indies, but Siraj is not part of the T20 squad. However BCCI is yet to announce the replacement of Mohammad Siraj.
Siraj took 43 wickets
India now have Umran Malik, Hardik Pandya, Jaydev Undkat, Mukesh Kumar and Shardul Thakur as fast bowlers for the ODI series against West Indies. Since the start of 2022, Siraj has taken 43 wickets in ODIs, the most by any other Indian.
Siraj will be seen in action for three consecutive months
After the West Indies tour, India will play a three-match T20 series against Ireland. Siraj will not play in this series either. But after this he will be seen in action for three consecutive months. The Asia Cup 2023 will begin in late August, after which India will play a three-match ODI series against Australia. Apart from this, India will play the World Cup in October-November.
