With this, Neeraj became the first Indian to win a gold medal in the Javelin Throw World Championship. A gold medal was expected from Neeraj in the finals late on Sunday night.

Neeraj made history, did not disappoint

The reigning Olympic champion did not disappoint. Not only that, he became only the second javelin thrower in the world to win Olympic gold and World Championship gold at the same time in javelin throw. On the other hand, Neeraj's close rival Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan won the silver medal.

In 2016, he also won a major championship

In 2016, Neeraj created history by winning the Junior World Championship. He then became the first Indian to do so in athletics. 7 years later Neeraj again repeated his miracle and became the first Indian athlete to win the World Championship even at the senior level. In this way, Neeraj has etched his name forever in history by winning every major games and championship title at the senior level.

The start was bad

Neeraj Chopra did not start well in the final and the very first throw went foul. After the first attempt, Neeraj was at the last place among the total 12 finalists. He was the only thrower to foul. However, Neeraj was undeterred and Neeraj made a tremendous comeback in the second attempt. In Neeraj's second throw, the javelin landed at a distance of 88.17 meters and with this Neeraj secured the first position. Neeraj's lead continued after the third attempt and despite throwing 86.32 metres, he finished first in the first half. Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem also bounced back after a slow start. Arshad's first throw was 74.80 meters and second was 82.81 meters. Nadeem again achieved a distance of 87.82m in the third throw to finish second behind Neeraj.
