Asia Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan is scheduled to be played on September 2. This will be the first time since 2019, when the teams of India and Pakistan will take the field to play an ODI match. Political relations between India and Pakistan are not special and hence no bilateral series is played between the two teams. Meanwhile these two teams play against each other in ICC events or Asia Cup only. The last ODI between India and Pakistan was in the 2019 World Cup, in which India won by 89 runs. Between the years 2012 to 2023, a total of 12 matches have been played between India and Pakistan, out of which India has won 8 times while Pakistan has won 4 times. Six times in these 12 matches, Indian batsmen have scored centuries against Pakistan. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have scored two centuries each, while Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan have scored one century each.

Rohit and Dhawan hit centuries

Rohit Sharma scored a century against Pakistan in the 2019 World Cup and Asia Cup 2018, while Shikhar Dhawan also scored a century against Pakistan in the 2018 Asia Cup. Asia Cup 2018 was played in One Day International format. Then two matches were played between India and Pakistan, in which India won both the matches. India won one match by 8 wickets and the other by 9 wickets.

Kohli's 'Virat' record in Asia Cup

Virat Kohli scored a century against Pakistan in World Cup 2015, while the last time Pakistan toured India in 2012, MS Dhoni scored a century against Pakistan in Chennai, a match India lost. Virat Kohli's 183 against Pakistan in the 2012 Asia Cup is the highest score by any batsman in the history of the Asia Cup.
