PCB's fake statement about Jay Shah is going viral

New Delhi, 26 September 2023, Tuesday

Got visas to come to India for ODI World Cup 2023 to be hosted by India. After the approval of the visa, a picture is going viral on social media, claiming that the Pakistan Cricket Board has thanked BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and the Government of India for getting the Indian visa.

This statement is completely fake and rumour. No such statement has been officially released by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The statement, which is going viral, was framed in such a way that it appeared to have been issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The release of the fake photo first read, "PCB would like to clarify the issue regarding visa for 2023 ICC ODI World Cup in India. PCB applied for visa to India on September 19, 2023 and submitted all necessary documents.

Despite being the last to get the visa, we were promised by the BCCI and the Government of India that the visa would be issued by September 25 and that's what happened."

The third line thanked the BCCI and the Government of India and wrote, "We thank the Government of India and especially the BCCI Secretary for their prompt action."

"We would request our stakeholders, especially journalists, not to speculate or promote these rumours," the last line read. This is how this fake press release was prepared.
