Ben Stokes pulls out of IPL 2024 : Preparations for IPL 2024 have started. The roadmap for the player auction for the upcoming season is being prepared and the auction will be held on December 19 in Dubai. Earlier, defending champions Chennai Super Kings have suffered a major setback. Team all-rounder Ben Stokes has refused to play the IPL 2024 season and has withdrawn his name.
Decision made keeping in mind the workload and fitness
Ben Stokes has taken this decision considering his workload and fitness. CSK shared a post on social media and said that Ben Stokes will not play next season due to workload management and fitness. CSK said England red-ball captain and all-rounder Ben Stokes has decided not to make himself available for IPL 2024 to manage his workload and fitness. He recently participated in the ODI World Cup 2023.
Stokes has played 45 IPL matches
Chennai Super Kings further wrote, 'Chennai Super Kings management supports Stokes in his decision to manage his workload with England before the IPL and then the T20 World Cup in India in June 2024 with a 5-match Test series.' Stokes has scored 935 runs and taken 28 wickets in 45 IPL matches. He could only play 2 matches in the last IPL season due to injury. According to sources, Chennai may include New Zealand player Daryl Mitchell in the team instead of Stokes.
