IND vs SA 1st Test : In the first Test played at Centurion, the South African team has taken a lead of 11 runs against India. Dean Elgar remained unbeaten by scoring a century from South Africa. The Indian team is currently on the back foot in this match. Apart from KL Rahul, no other Indian batsman performed well. Then Shardul Thakur and the famous Krishna have proved expensive in bowling too. The Indian team is currently struggling due to three reasons.
Bad performance of Indian team in batting
Except for KL Rahul, no batsman could stay at the crease for long. Rahul scored 101 runs with the help of 14 fours and 4 sixes. Earlier, opener Yashshwi Jaiswal scored 17 runs, Rohit Sharma scored 5 runs and Shubman Gill scored 2 runs. Similarly, Virat Kohli was dismissed for 38 runs and Iyer for 31 runs. Due to poor batting, the Indian team fell behind. He scored 245 runs in the first innings.
Indian bowlers could not get Elgar out till the end of the second day
By the end of the second day's play, South Africa had scored 256 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Dean Elgar remained unbeaten even after his century. He scored 140 runs off 211 balls. During this he hit 23 fours. David Bedingham also batted well with him. However, he was dismissed after scoring a fifty.
Shardul Thakur proved costly
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj took 2 wickets each for India. The famous Krishna took one wicket. Krishna and Siraj took wickets but they also gave away runs. Shardul Thakur also proved costly. He gave 57 runs in 12 overs. Siraj gave 63 runs in 15 overs. The Indian team will now need to bowl well and dismiss Dean Elgar in the first session of the third day.
