IND vs SA 1st Test : The 2-match Test series between India and South Africa is scheduled to begin tomorrow. The first match of this series will be played at Centurion. Before the first test, Indian team coach Rahul Dravid has made it clear who will be the Indian team's wicketkeeper in the Boxing Day Test. 2 wicketkeepers were picked in the form of Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul before the tour of South Africa, but Ishan withdrew his name before the start of the series due to which KS Bharath has been included in the squad as his replacement.
Rahul has done wicketkeeping in ODI cricket for India
KL Rahul has kept wickets for India in ODI cricket, but is yet to try his hand in a Test match. KS Bharat has shown his skills whenever he has got an opportunity. But he is failing in batting. In such a situation, the question was who would do the wicketkeeping in the Test series against South Africa.
'An opportunity for KL to do something different'
Indian team coach Rahul Dravid ended this question and said during the conversation with the media, 'This is a challenge for us. This will be an opportunity for KL Rahul to do something different. In Ishaan's absence we had some keepers to choose from. KL now seems ready to take it further. We also understand that he has not kept in longer formats before, but he has done so in ODIs. But it's also a bit difficult.'
'KL Rahul's presence in the team is a very good thing'
The coach further said, 'KL Rahul has been keeping in the last 5-6 months. Meanwhile, he has kept more against fast bowling than spin. In such a situation it will not be easy for him to play this role well. We will also keep an eye on it. It is good to have a player like him in the team, who can bat as well as keep.'
