In the last five years in Tests, Ravindra Jadeja has excelled both in batting and bowling


IND VS ENG: Ravindra Jadeja played an unbeaten innings of 81 runs in difficult conditions on the second day of the first Test against England. At one point it seemed that the Indian team would not be able to get a lead of more than 50 or 60 runs in the first innings. But Jadeja played a brilliant innings to give India a lead of 175 runs.

Improvement in Ravindra Jadeja's batting

Ravindra Jadeja's batting has seen the most improvement in the last five years. Ravindra Jadeja made his Test debut for India in 2012. Even then, Jadeja's batting was good. However, till 2018, Jadeja scored 1404 runs in 59 innings at a batting average of 31. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja scored nine fifties and one fifty. After that there was a remarkable change in Jadeja's batting. Since 2018, Jadeja has scored 1473 runs in 41 innings at a batting average of 45. Meanwhile, Jadeja scored 11 half-centuries and two wickets.

Apart from batting, Ravindra Jadeja has excelled in bowling as well. Jadeja managed to take three wickets in the first innings against England. Jadeja's bowling was so brilliant that England's team innings was reduced to just 246 runs.

Batsmen with most sixes in Test matches

Jadeja now holds the sixth position among the batsmen who have hit the most number of sixes for India. In this list, Sehwag has 91 sixes in 104 Tests, while MS Dhoni has hit 78 sixes in 90 Tests. Rohit Sharma's name comes at the third number. Rohit Sharma has hit 77 sixes in 55 Tests so far. Talking about Sachin Tendulkar, he played 200 Tests and hit 69 sixes. Former captain Kapil Dev hit a total of 61 sixes after playing 131 Tests. Ravindra Jadeja has hit 60 sixes. That means, if he hits one more six, he will be at par with Kapil Dev and can go ahead of him after hitting two sixes.
