Ranji Trophy 2023-24 Finalist : The Mumbai team has made it to the finals of the Ranji Trophy. Mumbai have made it to the final of the Ranji Trophy for a record 48th time. Under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, Mumbai beat Tamil Nadu by an innings and 70 runs in the semi-finals. Mumbai won 5 out of 7 matches in the group stage. Apart from this they lost 1 match and 1 match ended in draw.

Shardul becomes 'Player of the Match'

With the loss of Tamil Nadu, the Mumbai team entered the final and Shardul Thakur's all-round performance played a major role in the team's victory. In the first innings, Shardul Thakur scored the first century of his first-class cricket career and played a brilliant innings of 109 runs off 104 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 13 fours. He took 2 wickets in the first innings. He also took 2 wickets in the second innings. Shardul was also adjudged player of the match for his brilliant performance.

Tamil Nadu team scored 146 runs in the first innings and then Mumbai team scored 378 runs in the first innings on the back of Shardul Thakur's century and Mushir Shan and Tanush Kotian's fifties and took a lead of 232 runs. After this in the second innings Tamil Nadu's batting was once again not good and the team was bowled out for 162 runs and Mumbai won by an innings and 70 runs. The team from Mumbai has made it to the Ranji final for the 48th time and this team has become the champion 41 times.
