The semi-final match of the Harris Shield on 25 February 1988 was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records by two young children at the Sessenian Cricket Club Ground in Azad Maidan. The children were just enjoying cricket and they were not aware of such an achievement. In the match between Shardagram and St. Xavier's Court, Sachin and Vinod Kambli took over after Shardashram team players Atul Rande and R Moole were dismissed.

At the end of the day, Sachin was unbeaten on 182 and Vinod Kambli on 192. The next day, after both of them crossed the 200-run mark, Shardashram scored over 500 runs. Guru Acharyakar's assistant gave this news to Acharyakar so he instructed the assistant to declare the claim complete. The coach was counting on winning the match by declaring the innings strategically but both were so busy that Sachin scored 326 runs with the help of 1 six and 49 fours and Kambli scored 349 runs with the help of 3 sixes and 49 fours. When the innings was declared at 748, the two had a partnership of 664 runs which was the world record of any series of cricket. These innings of Sachin and Kambli are immortal in the history of cricket.
