Despite winning against Zverev, Djokovic is out of his own tennis tournament

Belgrade, 19

Amid the Corona epidemic, Djokovic has started his own charity tournament along with several other tennis players. The first round of the charity tournament, known as the Edir Tour, is being played in Belgrade, Serbia, in which Djokovic defeated Zverev of Germany 6-0, 1-2, 6-4. Yet he was knocked out of his tournament. With Djokovic's victory, his fellow Serbian player Philip Krajinovic advanced to the final.

"I did not cry because of the defeat, but because of the response and respect of the audience," said Djokovic, who wept emotionally after the victory over Zverev. Djokovic, 6, was given a standing ovation by some 3,000 spectators at the stadium.

The second round of the charity tennis tournament will be played next week at the Zadar Resort in the coastal region of Croatia. The third round, to be played in Montenegro on June 7-8, has been postponed due to fears of an outbreak of the corona virus. The final will be played in the Bosnian city of Banja Luka on July 7-8.
