Former and current hockey players demanded that the Bharat Ratna award be given to India's legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. Major Dhyan Chand's 119th birth anniversary is coming on 9th August. As the Government of India celebrates Major Dhyan Chand's birthday as National Sports Day, players like Gurbaksh Singh, Harbinder Singh and Yuvraj Valmiki, including his son Ashok Kumar, have expressed the view that he needs to be awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest award given to a citizen of the country.
Last year, former Indian captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, actor Babashan Mohanty and Rachel White launched a digital campaign to demand the award of Bharat Ratna to Major Dhyan Chand. This demand was repeated in the virtual discussion held under which.
8 year old Gurbaksh Singh said that for us, meditation is like a few gods. We were lucky to have the opportunity to take a month-long tour of East Africa and Europe with him. A simple-minded person and a great player like him could not be found. The qualities of a hockey player were innate in them. No player like him has matured yet.
"We used to call him Dada," said Harbinder Singh. We had a lot of respect for him. I would run 100 meters in 10.2 seconds. My speed was my credit. He advised me that I should keep the ball in front of me. However, controlling for that is very necessary. I worked hard to assimilate his Guru Mantra.
"They used to stop me and my brother from playing hockey," said Ashok Kumar, son of Dhyan Chand and an Arjuna Award winner. We found out too late that hockey lacks financial incentives. That's why they stopped us from playing hockey.
