New Delhi , dated 21
Former Indian captain and veteran batsman Sunil Gavaskar has said that Bhuvneshwar's poor performance in the last overs has become a cause for concern. Especially considering the upcoming T20 World Cup, India needs to come out of this situation quickly. Gavaskar also hoped that Bumrah would now return with fitness and improve the standard of Indian bowling.
In the T20 against Australia, Bhuvneshwar gave 16 runs in the 19th over , which caused India's defeat. Gavaskar said that , I don't think there was so much fog on the field that the bowlers and fielders had trouble. Neither the fielders nor the bowlers were seen using towels to wipe their fingers , so the excuse of dew cannot be ruled out. We could not bowl well.
Gavaskar added that an experienced and top class bowler like Bhuvneshwar cannot dominate the opposition team in the final overs. He gave 49 runs in the last 18 balls he bowled against Pakistan , Sri Lanka and now Australia. Thus giving an average of 3 runs per ball. A bowler like him should give 35-36 runs in 18 balls. Now let's hope Bumrah makes a comeback with fitness and solves this problem for India.
