In Pakistan's first innings of the first Test between Pakistan and New Zealand, something happened that had never happened before in the 145-year history of Test cricket. 438 runs have been scored in Pakistan's first innings. From Pakistan, Babar Azam scored 161 runs and Agha Salman scored a century. Babar became the highest run-scorer for Pakistan in a calendar year in international cricket, while New Zealand wicketkeeper Tom Blundell, on the other hand, did something that has now etched his name in cricket history.
Tom Blundell did this amazingly
During Pakistan's first innings, Tom Blundell showed the way to the pavilion by stumping Abdullah Shafiq and Shan Masood. This happened for the first time in the history of Test cricket when the first two wickets of a Test match were stumped and dismissed. New Zealand captain Saudi gave the ball to Ejaz Patel in the fourth over of the match and he returned to the pavilion after stumping Shafiq in his first over. After dismissing Pakistan's opener, Shan Masood came to bat at the crease but Masood was also stumped. Thus the first 2 wickets of Pakistan's first innings were dismissed by stumping. This is the first time in the history of Test cricket that a team's first two wickets have been dismissed by stumps.
