English players dominated the player auction for IPL 2023 held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kochi yesterday. Punjab Kings bought Sam Karan for a record bid of Rs 18.5 crore. Apart from this, Ben Stokes and Harry Brook also fetched very high prices. Why did franchise teams trust English players so much in this auction? A total of eight England players were sold, with two players fetching record breaking prices. The question is why the franchise teams had so much faith in the England players in this auction and why did they get such a high price?

The changing culture of English cricket
The England team now prefers to play Test cricket more loosely like T20s and ODIs. Fans around the world have seen this scene in the Test series against Pakistan. The way English players bat fast has given the IPL teams a lot of confidence. Data analysts have also played an important role in improving the performance of England's batsmen.

A memorable win in the T20 World Cup
England won the World Cup this year with a brilliant performance in the T20 World Cup. England's victory was commendable as at one point England was on the brink of exiting the tournament after losing to Ireland but later Jos Buttler's team almost became an example to the world. The English players made a tremendous comeback under pressure in difficult conditions and emerged victorious.

Perfect combination of teams
In the upcoming season of IPL, teams may also get to play matches at their home ground. Due to this, the teams also needed the best combination. Like Royal Challengers Bangalore bought death over master Reece Topley and Rajasthan Royals bought Joe Root. Sunrisers Hyderabad needed a middle order batsman and spent a lot of money on Harry Brook. Similarly, CSK has made up for the lack of an all-rounder by buying Ben Stokes.
