India gave a clean sweep to New Zealand yesterday to clinch the series. With this, Team India has become the No. 1 team in the ODI rankings of ICC. During this match, a record was broken which was previously held by Sachin Tendulkar, who is called the Lord of Cricket. The record breaker is none other than Team India's star player Virat Kohli.
In the three-match ODI series played between India and New Zealand, India captured the series by giving a clean sweep to New Zealand and with this, India has become the ICC's No. 1 ODI team. India defeated New Zealand by 90 runs in the 3rd ODI played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. Batsmen and bowlers played an important role in this match, on the other hand, the Indian fielders also contributed to the team's victory by taking tremendous catches. In the third ODI, Virat Kohli took two catches and also surpassed Sachin's record.
Virat broke Sachin's record
In the third ODI played yesterday, Virat failed to score a century but he did a feat that broke the record set by the god of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar. In this match, Virat took two catches and with this, Virat surpassed Sachin as the most caught Indian. Now former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin is ahead of Virat with 156 catches. Sachin Tendulkar made this record by taking 140 catches in 430 matches. Virat Kohli has become the second highest wicket-taker for India with 141 catches in 271 matches. Sri Lankan batsman Mehla Jayawardene is at the first place in this list who has taken 218 catches in 448 matches. The second number is the name of former Australian captain Ricky Ponting who has taken 160 catches in 375 matches.
