VIDEO: Woman sets world record by swimming 2.5 kilometers in cold Antarctic waters


There are many people in the world who make the world wonder with their works. Something similar has been done by 37-year-old Barbara Hernandez, who lives in Chile, South America. Barbara has registered her name in the Guinness Book of World Records by swimming 2.5 kilometers in the cold waters of Antarctica. No one in the world has done this work so far.

Swimming in 2.2 degree Celsius temperature

Barbara already has many world records in her name. According to one report, Barbara swam for 45 minutes and 50 seconds in the frigid waters of Antarctica at Chilly Bay on Greenwich Island at a temperature of around 2.2 degrees Celsius. He performed these feats without a neoprene suit or any type of safety equipment. Barbara covered the distance of 2.5 kilometers in just a simple swimming suit.

Barbara is known as 'Ice Mermaid'

Hernandez is an experienced open water swimmer. In the year 2020, she also received the best female swimmer award from the World Open Water Swimming Association. She is also known as Ice Mermaid. After this achievement, Hernandez said, 'I am very happy and relieved. Swimming in Antarctica was my 10-year-old dream that came true today. It has been my ambition to swim in all the seven oceans of the world. Finally this dream has come true. I have been working hard for this for three years.

A documentary will be made on Barbara

Hernandez's swim of 2.5 kilometers is the longest ever in Antarctica. A ship from the Chilean Navy was present for support during the swim. A documentary on Barbara's career has also been made which will be released in April.
