A woman was arrested yesterday for allegedly trying to extort money from the mother of former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who was instrumental in helping the Indian team win the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011, by threatening to implicate his family.
The woman was hired to look after Yuvraj Singh's brother
Police gave this information. According to the police, the accused woman was taking care of Yuvraj Singh's brother. According to the complaint filed by Yuvraj Singh's mother Shabnam Singh, the family hired the accused woman in the year 2022 to look after Yuvraj Singh's brother Zorawar Singh. Zorawar Singh was a victim of depression for a long time.
The woman demanded 40 lakh rupees
However, the police complaint states that the woman was fired after 20 days for being 'unprofessional'. The accused woman started sending WhatsApp calls and messages to Yuvraj's mother in May, threatening to implicate her in a false case and defame the family and demanding Rs 40 lakh from her.
The police set a trap to catch the woman
Acting on the complaint, the Gurugram police laid a trap and arrested the accused woman for taking five lakh rupees from Yuvraj Singh's mother. Gurugram Deputy Commissioner of Police Nitish Aggarwal said that we are interrogating the accused woman.
Yuvraj's mother was threatened on WhatsApp
According to the information received, on July 19, the woman threatened Yuvraj's mother by sending a WhatsApp message. The accused woman said that she will file a case against the entire family on July 23. In return, the accused woman demanded Rs 40 lakh from Yuvraj's mother. Yuvraj's mother said that the amount is huge, so it will take time for them to manage. In this way, it was decided to give five lakh rupees till Monday.
The police caught the woman red-handed
Yesterday, when the accused woman reached to collect five lakh rupees, the police arrested her red-handed. Although the accused woman was later released on bail, an FIR has been registered against her.
