ICC took strict action after the Sri Lankan captain abused the umpire

ICC Banned Wanindu Hasaranga : A three-match T20I series was recently played between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Sri Lanka won the series 2-1. However, after this victory, his difficulties have increased. ICC has banned Sri Lankan captain Wanindu Hasaranga for two matches. Hasranga was found guilty of abusing the umpire during the third match of the T20I series against Afghanistan.

The umpire was reprimanded for not giving the no ball

The third and final match of the T20I series between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka was played on 21 February in Dambulla. After this match, Hasaranga scolded the umpire Lyndon Hannibal for not giving a no ball. After this matter, Hasaranga was fined 50 percent of the match fee and also given 3 demerit points. His demerit points have increased to 5 in the last 24 months. According to the new ICC rules, his 5 demerit points have been converted into a two-match ban.

Hasranga will not be a part of the T20I series against Bangladesh

Hasaranga will no longer be able to play one Test match or two ODIs or two T20Is. He will be eliminated from whichever match is played first. So Hasaranga will be ruled out of the T20I match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh next month. The T20I series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be played from March 4. Hasaranga will not be part of the T20I matches to be played on March 4 and 6.
