However, former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar does not agree that players should take a break from international matches by complaining about the workload. Many times he has openly said that if you really want to manage the workload then don't play in the IPL. Relax but don't excuse yourself from national duty. In this way, Sunil Gavaskar started a discussion about resting fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in the Ranchi Test against England by Rohit Sharma and Co. Gavaskar gave a statement about Rohit Sharma's bold decision Gavaskar also opened up about India's decision not to use Bumrah in the deciding match of the Test series against England. Gavaskar said, “After bowling just 15 overs in the first innings of the third Test in Rajkot and then 8 overs in the second innings, Bumrah was rested for Ranchi probably on the recommendation of the trainer....

IND vs ENG: 'Little' Jaiswal has chance to set 'Virat' record in Dharamshala

New delhi date. 1 March 2024, Friday

India has achieved an unbeaten 3-1 victory in the five-Test series against England at home. Although India has won the series, the Indian team under the leadership of Rohit Sharma in Dharamsala in the fifth match still has a chance to break a 112-year-old record, along with star opener Yashaswi Jaiswal can decorate his head with a unique success.

The last match of the 5-match Test series between India and England will be held in Dharamsala from March 7. Team India's opening batsman Yashshwi Jaiswal will be eyeing to create a new history in this match. Yashaswi has made an invaluable contribution to India's Test series win against England. In 8 innings of 4 matches he has scored 655 runs at an amazing average of 93.57. This score also recorded his best score in cricket history of 214 runs not out with a double century. However, in Dharamshala, Yashaswi will be able to break Sir Sunil Gavaskar's record if there will be a flurry of runs from his bat. If Yashaswi succeeds in making 120 runs in both innings of the next Test, then the record of scoring the most runs in a series as an Indian batsman will be registered in the name of Yashaswi.

Sunil Gavaskar holds the record:

Sunil Gavaskar has crossed the 700-run mark twice in Test series. The Little Master scored 774 runs in 4 matches at an incredible average of 154.80 during the 1971 Test series against the West Indies. In the series played in 1978, he scored 732 runs in 6 matches at an average of 91.50. Sunil Gavaskar has been ruling this record for the past 53 years. King Kohli certainly came close to him in one series but could not break Gavaskar's record. Kohli scored 692 runs in 8 innings of 4 matches against Australia in the 2014–15 Border Gavaskar Trophy at an average of 86.50, while scored 655 runs in the 2016–17 Test series against England. Along with this, if both score even 1 run in the innings, Virat Kohli's record of scoring the most runs against England in a series will also be broken.

Will India break the 112-year-old record?

India lost only the first Hyderabad Test match against the touring team. Later, the Rohit Sharma-led team made a comeback and thrashed the British in Visakhapatnam, Rajkot and finally Ranchi. Now in Dharamshala too, if India achieves 4-1, the Indian team has a chance to break the 112-year-old record. After 112 years, India can become the second team to win the remaining four matches of a five-match Test series after losing the first match.

This has happened three times in the history of Test cricket

Before this, England had done this feat in 1912. As far as Test history is concerned, this has happened three times so far in which Australia has done this feat twice in the years 1897-1898 and 1901-1902 and England did this feat in 1912.
