Day 9 of Commonwealth Games was very special for India. The excellent performance of the wrestlers gave India 3 medals in wrestling. Then India's star para table tennis player Bhavina Patel has also created history by winning a gold medal.
The special thing is that Bhavina Patel is from Mehsana in Gujarat and she has given this achievement to India on foreign soil. Bhavina made a name for herself across the country by winning a historic silver medal during the Tokyo Paralympics last year.
35-year-old Bhavina Patel easily won the medal by defeating the Nigerian 3-0 in the final match held on Saturday. Christiana Ikpayoi of Nigeria challenged in the women's singles final in the Class 3-5 of the Paira TT. In the first and last game, the Nigerian player caused some trouble but in the end Bhavina won the match without losing any game. The Indian star won 12-10, 11-2, 11-9 to become the champion.

Polio at the age of 1 year
Bhavina Hasmukhbhai Patel was a victim of polio at the age of just one year old and his life has been a struggle. Born in a small village at Vadnagar in Mehsana, Gujarat, Bhavina Patel's family was in poor financial condition. Born on 6 November 1986, Bhavina Patel's father got her treated at Visakhapatnam when she was in the fourth grade but there was no result.
Forced to spend his life in a wheelchair, Bhavina Patel completed his studies up to 12th standard. After that, he obtained his bachelor's degree from Gujarat University under distance learning. He started playing table tennis as a hobby and it became a passion.
